This piece really illustrates "me, the alcoholic". The little guy in the red ball cap that you see in many of my pictures is my inner child, Little Parky. As he does here you can see anxiety lines coming out of his head. In "Overwhelmed" he was somehow able to manipulate, convince or cajole the whole town into sitting for a portrait HE will paint. Like the story of the play director and his actors in the Big Book this painting will be his masterpiece if everyone and the weather just cooperates. Of course when the time comes to paint, he is frozen with fear and despair and the canvas remains blank.
